How do I inscribe someone’s name nicely into a block of wood?
I want to etch or sculpture someone’s name into a block of wood. I don’t want to spend money on special woodworking tools. I already have some Swiss army knives, etc. Is there some trick to engraving or etching a name into wood?
Yeah, there is some wood burning tool that you can carve shapes and words into it, but I don’t know what it is called. We use it in Technology sometimes. Even though I hate to say it, you could probably find it at Walmart. You can find anything there. (unfortunately) It shouldn’t cost too much. Maybe 30 bucks. Then again, it depends on how good it is.

In most cases the natural wood shows the beauty of the scrupulous wood. Every kinds of wood are having different basic color. In species which show a distinct difference between heartwood and sapwood the natural color of heartwood is usually darker than that of the sapwood, and very frequently the contrast is conspicuous.
Variegated wood color is caused by substances in the color of the wood is different. There are two kinds of cedar and these are red cedar and white cedar. There are two kinds of pine and these are white pine and yellow pine. Spanish mahogany, close-grained dark-red-brown or yellow-brown colored wood takes a very high polish and makes the finest kind of furniture. Walnut is a beautiful darker wood that looks good with or without stain. It can come in the natural wood in both a darker or light versions.
Except in the way just stated the color of wood is no indication of strength. Technical requirements for wood furniture: medium weight, dimensional stable, decorative, facile, easy nailed, easy levigated, easy to screwed-down, and easy to paste. Type of wood in furniture: teak, ebony, nails, mahogany, meranti and others. Copse dye is the warranty of quality but not for strength.
The wood basic color is indicated quality of wood and giving the right direction for coloring or finishing wood furniture. More to the point, how strong it’s wood if get a wrong finishing it will reduce the value. Amalgamation of wood basic color and furnishing which is useful to protect the wood from termite as well as add the beauty of its furniture is essential part of wooden furniture manufacturer process.
