Wow! You built a playhouse for your children, a potting shed for your wife, and now it is time to build a shed for yourself.
You decided on a garden shed and you found the perfect spot in the wooded section of the backyard. A wooded area that will be away from the loud noises and music of the children, a relative complaining of their aches and pains, the honey do weekend list organized by your wife, or just a get-a-way for some peace and quiet, a man cave refuge.
You have an idea for your DIY garden shed and anxious to build it. You want your man cave to be large enough to accomodate the poker table, a mini-bar, your favorite recliner, and a television set.
You have your dream garden shed in mind, now you need the appropriate shed plans or shed blueprints to start construction.
Checklist:
- Check local residential building codes.
- Select site.

- Double check materials and tool list.
- Architectural design with its blueprint.
- Decide on partitions, shelves, racks, and cabinets.
- Selection of door, windows, shutters, and porch or deck.
- Make or purchase indoor and outdoor furniture.
- Include a ramp for easy furniture movement.
- Electrical needs for the television and indoor climate controls.
- Interior and exterior paint color or stain for garden shed.
- Decide on additional storage, perhaps a loft.
- Decide on using cedar shingles or roofing shingle materials.
- Build foundation.
- Build floor.
- Build doors.
- Build walls.
- Build roof.
- Build ramp.
- A lifetime of fun and relaxation.
This list, at first glance, may seem overwhelming, however, preplanning is very important. You probably know this.
The shed construction phase of this woodworking project is bringing your dream into a physical reality. And that is the excitement of creating your remarkable garden shed or man cave.

As I watched my husband review his shed plans, it was different watching him build for himself than it was for the children or for me. We were there to tell him what we wanted and how we wanted it and he made the adjustments.
This shed is for him, it seems to be taking longer because he wants it built to his specifications and he has to think it out completely by himself. I noticed that it was nice to have a few buddies over to help with the thinking and the shed construction.

The bathroom is one area of the house that people often tend to forget about. There are many things that you can do to keep the costs down. Figure out the most that you can spend and then go from there. Many do not realize but there is a whole lot that you can do with a small budget. Pick the decor that you want to go with for your design of the room. Some small things like buying accessories make a huge difference in the way that it looks. There are also many things that you can use within the home, so you do not have to worry about buying something new. Of course you don’t want everything to be the same, but putting some new paint on things and using creativity can go a long way.
Depending on your budget, think of changing the light fixtures that are in your bathroom. You want to set the tone, so that it is a place that you can go to relax when you want to take a bath and then gives you enough light when you need it. Lights above the mirror or on the sides are perfect for completing things as putting on your makeup. Think of a dimmer switch to tone down the lighting when you want to relax and the ability to turn it up when you are showering. Shower curtains are cheap and are a great accessory for the bathroom when you want to redecorate. The options are endless to the types that you can buy. You can usually always buy one that will add color and design and not take much from the bank. Add your own design by getting creative and making your own outer hanging curtains. Do this by buying the cheapest bedspreads or sheets that you can find that will fit into the look of your bathroom.
If you are going with changing the style of your bathroom, then consider changing or adding the bathroom racks. Make sure that any of the towel racks that you get, match. If you happen to have some left over metal shelving, then restore it with black paint or another paint or choice. Repainting does not cost much and will make a big difference in the way that your bathroom looks. Towels that are accented to the colors of the shower curtain, really make the room to stand out. Creativity is key, when you are trying to save money and decorate, but there is no reason that you should not be able to. Remember the little things like soap dishes and toothbrush holders are the last thing to worry about. Any of the money that you have left, splurge and buy the things that you want.
