There is a brand new Patio Furniture design that is strikingly innovative and based purely on environmental friendliness. It is referred to as Eco Design and the concept is beginning to grow more and more each year. This type of furniture design was established with the efforts of governments, companies, and the every day U.S. citizen who strive to become greener. One extension that is quite unique to this growth, even for post-modern furniture is a design known as Live Edge. This fancy name simply refers to the return to natural shapes and textures within the home environment.
Eco Design really surfaced directly following the art movement known as Modernism. It began roughly around the 1950’s and in the 1960’s and 70’s it intertwined itself accordingly with the Pop Art movement as well. Due to this juxtaposition, transitional furniture evolved, which was simply a fusion of traditional and modern styles and approaches. The idea for Eco-friendly furniture design came about in the recent years, around the turn of the century. This is of course a direct result and effect of the “green movement” that is clearly gaining momentum worldwide. Live edge furniture is very innovative in design and superb when it comes to quality. To construct this furniture involves a much shorter, albeit more trying process. But it never fails to produce a rewarding result. This type of furniture is all about sustainability.
Live edge furniture is characterized by gnarly wood such as Alligator Juniper or salvaged wood. The carpenter will incorporate the natural edge of the wood design directly into the piece of furniture for a more natural look. Since these types of woods are not typically used in conventional woodworking, there are many challenges builders are faced with when manipulating these materials. Some artists will intentionally leave the natural holes and cracks while others fill them in with a resin. Back in the day, this naturalistic style of furniture was referred to as “rustic.”
Live Edge furniture is definitely meant to be used both indoors and outdoors. Patio Furniture can be made from salvaged wood very easily, and it makes for a nice patio set. Front porches and back yard landscapes look very naturalistic and inviting when this type of self sustaining furniture is present. So why not conserve the natural woods of our world and take part in this green movement by investing in some eco-friendly furniture?
