I am a firm believer that you can never have too much home storage. After all, you can only pile everything into the garage for so long before you can no longer park the car in there. Here is a quick list of inexpensive home storage projects that will make life a little easier and maybe even make some room for your car in the garage.

• Invest in multifunctional furniture. Some favorites of mine include ottomans with secret storage compartments, beds with built-in drawers, and the classic Murphy bed which tucks away into the wall, making your guest room twice as functional.
• Add hooks to doors and unused wall space. These can be used for belts, ties or shoes in the bedroom, and towels or dishrags in the bathroom and kitchen.
• Slide storage boxes under your beds. Attach some wheels for extra convenience.
• Store away bed linens in old chests or trunks, then use the trunk as a stylish end-table.
• Use pull-out shelves or baskets in deeper cabinets and stackable storage pieces in taller cabinets. These inexpensive additions will allow you to use every inch of your cupboards.
• Hang a pot rack in the kitchen and free up significant cabinet space.
• Place decorative canisters on the kitchen counter for storing frequently used foodstuff like coffee beans and sugar.
• Suspend wineglass racks under cabinets to display your stemware or decorative china. You can also under mount paper towel dispensers and can openers.
• Put an inexpensive wine rack in the bathroom to store rolled up towels.
• Add sturdy shelving and cabinets to the garage walls. In fact, a basic cabinet can be used just about anywhere to create instant storage. This project requires some carpentry knowledge and electrical power tools, namely a miter or circular saw, a table saw and router, and a cordless power drill.
