If you are in the market for a bed for your child, age is an important factor. A very young child needs a bed that will grow with them but that is also a safe sleeping area. As a rule, children under six should not be placed in an upper bed of bunk beds even if there is a safety rail. If you are looking for a bed for your child that will serve as a sitting area during the day, futons and daybeds are the best choice. Futons have to be unfolded unlike daybeds which are already in place.
For an older child who is still growing, a combination bed may be the best idea. These bed stations include a twin bed or twin bunk beds as well as a desk for doing homework.
